Why choose Turkey for your honeymoon?

Turkey stands out as a top choice to celebrate your union, offering an enchanting blend of East and West. With 7,200 kilometers of coastline bathed by four different seas, the country reveals landscapes of exceptional diversity. Your honeymoon in Turkey will lead you from the fine sand beaches of the Mediterranean to the moon-like landscapes of Cappadocia, through the cultural buzz of Istanbul.

This destination has the advantage of being accessible all year round, with varied climates depending on the region. The Mediterranean and Aegean coasts enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year, while the interior of the country offers milder temperatures, ideal for exploring historical wonders. The price-quality ratio remains very attractive, allowing you to enjoy luxurious accommodations and authentic experiences without breaking your newlywed budget.

The rich Turkish culture is a major asset for your honeymoon. The country is home to 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, witnesses to 4,000 years of history. Among the remnants of the Roman Empire in Ephesus, the Byzantine wonders of Istanbul, and the Seljuk architecture of Konya, each step of your journey reveals unexpected treasures.

Must-visit destinations for a honeymoon in Turkey

Turkey offers a variety of romantic regions, each with its own charms and unique landscapes, perfect for celebrating your union.

The Turkish Riviera and Antalya

The region of Antalya, known as the Turkish Riviera, is a perfect setting for lovers in search of seaside relaxation. This Mediterranean coast stretches over 630 kilometers, dotted with crystal-clear waters and hidden coves. The city of Antalya itself captivates with its historic center, Kaleiçi, where restored Ottoman houses now house charming hotels and intimate restaurants.

The Düden waterfalls, located 12 kilometers from the city center, provide an exceptionally romantic setting. These 15-meter-high waterfalls plunge directly into the Mediterranean, creating a stunning natural spectacle. The surrounding park invites hand-in-hand strolls, while the hidden caves behind the waterfalls add a mysterious touch to your getaway.

The region also holds remarkable archaeological sites like Aspendos, which houses one of the best-preserved ancient theaters in the world. Built in the 2nd century, this 15,000-seat theater continues to host performances, offering a unique setting for a cultural evening with your loved one.

The Aegean coast and Bodrum

Bodrum embodies the relaxed elegance of the Turkish Aegean coast. This peninsula, bathed in turquoise waters, has been attracting an international clientele seeking authenticity and refinement for decades. Saint Peter's Castle, built by the Knights of Rhodes in the 15th century, majestically overlooks the marina where luxury yachts and traditional caïques mingle.

Nearby villages like Türkbükü or Gümüşlük maintain their authentic charm, with their white houses with blue shutters and fish taverns by the water. These havens offer memorable sunsets accompanied by local specialties like mezze and grilled fish.

The Bodrum peninsula is home to over 50 bays and coves, each providing its own atmosphere. Bitez Beach appeals for its preserved natural setting, while Gümbet attracts water sports enthusiasts. For a more exclusive experience, the private beaches of luxury hotels offer personalized services in an intimate setting.

Cappadocia, a fairy-tale setting

No honeymoon in Turkey would be complete without exploring Cappadocia, this region with a unique moon-like landscape. The "fairy chimneys," these rock formations carved by erosion over millennia, create a surreal setting that turns your honeymoon into a fairy tale.

A hot air balloon ride at sunrise is the emblematic experience of the region. From the basket, you admire the colored valleys, troglodyte villages, and vineyards that extend as far as the eye can see. This aerial adventure, shared in the intimacy of a small group, carves unforgettable memories into your minds as newlyweds.

Staying in a cave hotel adds an authentic dimension to your stay. These establishments, set up in ancient troglodyte dwellings, combine modern comfort with historic charm. Some suites have private terraces offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, perfect for intimate moments under the stars.

Romantic experiences and activities for two

Your journey in Turkey is adorned with a thousand experiences designed to strengthen your budding complicity. Gulet cruises along the Lycian coast reveal bays inaccessible by land, where you can swim in deep blue waters, far from any civilization. These traditional wooden boats offer comfortable cabins and refined cuisine, for a multi-day maritime getaway.

Traditional hammams offer an authentic wellness break. These Turkish baths, true cultural institutions, provide purification and relaxation rituals in a sumptuous architectural setting. Some historic establishments in Istanbul, like the Cagaloglu Hamami dating from 1741, perpetuate age-old traditions in a decor of marble and domes.

Turkish cuisine deserves special attention during your honeymoon. Cooking classes allow you to learn together the secrets of local specialties: baklava, börek, authentic kebab, and the famous Turkish tea. These workshops, often organized in traditional homes, conclude with a convivial tasting of your creations.

The following table presents the best times to enjoy each region according to your preferences:

Region Spring (March-May) Summer (June-August) Autumn (September-November) Winter (December-February)
Mediterranean coast Ideal for visits Perfect for beaches Excellent compromise Mild, little rain
Aegean coast Pleasant temperatures Hot, very sunny Sea still warm Mild climate
Cappadocia Spectacular blooming Hot but dry Autumn colors Snow possible, magical
Istanbul Spring mildness Hot and humid Golden light Cool but lively
