Traveling to Egypt means diving into the millennia-old history of the pharaohs while discovering a country with many facets. A tailor-made trip allows you to explore this mythical destination according to your desires, away from the usual tourist circuits. Our Travel Planners, passionate local experts, design your personalized stay taking into account your interests, pace, and budget.
Egypt offers a variety of unique experiences that deserve to be savored without time constraints. Whether you want to contemplate the Pyramids of Giza at sunrise, sail on the Nile in a traditional dahabieh, or explore the oases of the white desert, your trip in Egypt is shaped according to your aspirations. This personalized approach guarantees authentic moments, encounters with local populations, and access to less frequented sites.
Our local partner agencies have a perfect mastery of their territory and offer you a different perspective on Egypt. They organize tailor-made experiences that reveal the hidden treasures of the country: a night with a local family in a Nubian village, an introduction to Egyptian cooking with a local family, or a camel ride in the desert at sunset. These privileged moments transform your stay in Egypt into an unforgettable adventure.
Your tailor-made trip to Egypt leads you through legendary sites and breathtaking landscapes. Each region reveals its own wonders, from the bustling capital to the peaceful banks of the Nile, through the endless expanses of the desert.
Cairo, a metropolis of over 20 million inhabitants, is often the starting point of your discovery of Egypt. This fascinating city mixes tradition and modernity, where minarets stand alongside skyscrapers, and street vendors ply the avenues. The Giza plateau, located just 25 kilometers from downtown, houses the three legendary pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as well as the mysterious Sphinx.
Your local guide reveals the secrets of these monuments over 4,500 years old and offers exclusive experiences: a private tour of the Great Pyramid before it opens to the public, or a dinner facing the illuminated pyramids. Islamic Cairo, with its 600 historical monuments, also merits thorough exploration. Wander through the Khan el-Khalili souk, visit the Ibn Tulun Mosque, or discover the Coptic quarter with its ancient churches.
The Nile Valley concentrates the most beautiful testimonies of ancient Egypt on a 200-kilometer journey between Luxor and Aswan. This region, a true open-air museum, is ideally discovered during a cruise on the Nile aboard a dahabieh, a traditional sailboat. This gentle navigation allows you to admire the lush landscapes of the riverbanks and make stops in authentic villages.
Luxor, the ancient Thebes, reveals its treasures on both banks of the Nile. On the east bank, the temples of Karnak and Luxor testify to the pharaonic grandeur with their gigantic columns and perfectly preserved hieroglyphs. The west bank houses the Valley of the Kings, a royal necropolis where 63 pharaohs rest, including the famous Tutankhamun. Your personalized trip can include a private visit to rarely-open tombs or a hot air balloon flight over these exceptional sites.
The journey along the Nile then leads you to the remarkably preserved temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu. Aswan, gate to Nubia, impresses with its more relaxed atmosphere and its landscapes of granite rocks. The Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and saved from the waters during the construction of the dam, is one of the gems of the region.
Your personalized stay in Egypt can be enriched with a getaway to more confidential destinations. Abu Simbel, located 280 kilometers south of Aswan, impresses with its two temples carved into the rock by Ramses II. These monuments, entirely dismantled then reassembled to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser, testify to a modern architectural feat in the service of ancient heritage.
Lake Nasser, 500 kilometers long, offers an exceptional setting for an intimate cruise. This artificial water body, one of the largest in the world, bathes striking desert landscapes and is home to surprising wildlife: crocodiles, herons, sacred ibises. Your trip can also lead you to the Fayoum oasis, 100 kilometers from Cairo, where salt lakes and palm groves create a unique ecosystem.
The White Desert, in the west of the country, reveals rock formations sculpted by erosion that evoke giant mushrooms or fantastic animals. This region, accessible during a several-day safari, allows you to experience bivouacking under a sky of exceptional purity.
At Vialala, we collaborate with local Travel Planners who live in Egypt and intimately know their country. This approach guarantees the authenticity of your experience and gives you access to activities and places that only locals are familiar with. Your travel specialist designs your itinerary based on your interests, whether it be archaeology, photography, gastronomy, or adventure.
The process of creating your tailor-made trip begins with a thorough exchange about your expectations. Do you prefer to focus on major classic sites or discover a more confidential Egypt? Would you like a fast-paced approach to see as many places as possible or a more contemplative approach? Are you traveling as a family, a couple, or with friends? This information allows your Travel Planner to design a journey that reflects you.
Our local experts then select accommodations, transport means, and guides according to your preferences. They can offer you a night in an eco-lodge facing Lake Nasser, a private cruise on the Nile aboard a dahabieh reserved for your group, or meetings with artisans in their workshops. This customization extends to practical details: visit times to avoid crowds, authentic restaurants frequented by locals, or activities suitable if you are traveling with children.
The following table presents the different types of tailor-made trips we offer according to your desires:
| Type of trip | Recommended duration | Highlights | Target audience |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic discovery | 8-10 days | Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel | First-time visitors |
| Intimate cruise | 7-8 days | Sailing in a dahabieh, Nubian villages | Couples, small groups |
| Desert adventure | 10-12 days | Oases, white desert, bivouacs | Nature enthusiasts |
| Family trip | 8-10 days | Sites suitable for children, fun activities | Families with children |

Egypt enjoys a desert climate allowing it to be visited all year round, but certain times are more favorable depending on your planned activities. The tourist high season extends from October to April, when temperatures fluctuate between 20 and 25°C during the day and drop to 10-15°C at night. This period offers ideal conditions for exploring archaeological sites and sailing on the Nile.
The Egyptian winter, from December to February, offers the advantage of very pleasant daytime temperatures, perfect for extended visits. The evenings can be cool, especially in Aswan and the desert, requiring warm clothing. This is the ideal season for a family trip to Egypt, as children better tolerate the moderate heat.
Spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, are also excellent times for your tailor-made trip. Temperatures remain mild and you avoid the tourist influx of winter. However, be aware of sand winds (khamsin) that can occur in spring and reduce visibility.
The Egyptian summer, from June to August, is characterized by high temperatures, often exceeding 40°C in the Nile valley. While this period deters many visitors, it has certain advantages: less crowded sites, favorable rates, and the opportunity to fully enjoy the Red Sea. Your Travel Planner then adapts visit times to early mornings and late afternoons.
Diving and seaside enthusiasts prefer the period from April to November to explore the Red Sea, when the water temperature reaches 26-28°C. This region benefits from sea breezes that mitigate the sensation of heat, even in summer.
Egypt is a fascinating destination brimming with wonders to explore. Among the must-see attractions, the Pyramids of Giza are an absolute must. These iconic monuments of ancient Egypt reflect the ingenuity of ancient Egyptians. The nearby Sphinx is also a captivating visit. Cairo, the capital city, invites exploration of the Egyptian Museum where you can admire Tutankhamun's treasure and other invaluable artifacts. Along the Nile, Luxor offers a dive into the past with the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings. Alexandria, on the other hand, enchants with its Greco-Roman heritage and Mediterranean atmosphere. For those seeking beach adventures, the Red Sea with its coral reefs provides unique snorkeling and diving experiences. Finally, a Nile cruise is an exceptional way to discover the enchanting landscapes along this mythical river.
Egypt, with its sunny weather year-round, can be visited almost any time. However, the ideal period to travel to Egypt is between October and April. During these months, temperatures are milder, making it particularly pleasant to explore archaeological sites and cruise the Nile. From May to September, temperatures rise significantly, especially in desert areas, which can make outdoor visits less comfortable. It is advisable to avoid the peak summer season if you are sensitive to intense heat. Moreover, this high season is quieter at tourist sites, allowing you to enjoy Egypt's wonders without the crowd. Travelers looking to combine their stay with aquatic activities will appreciate the autumn and spring months to enjoy the pleasant waters of the Red Sea.
In Egypt, beyond the iconic monuments, there are various exciting activities to engage in. For nature lovers, the White Desert offers a surreal landscape of unique rock formations. A camel trek in the Sahara Desert is also an unforgettable experience. Water sports enthusiasts will be thrilled to dive or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea, exploring the rich marine biodiversity. In the cities, you can wander through lively souks, such as the Khan el-Khalili souk in Cairo, for a full cultural immersion into local life. Food lovers will enjoy tasting typical Egyptian dishes like koshari and fava beans. Finally, attending a sound and light show at the Pyramids of Giza or a traditional belly dance performance adds a memorable touch to your stay in Egypt.
For a first discovery of Egypt, we recommend a stay of at least 8 to 10 days. This duration allows you to visit the essential sites of Cairo, cruise on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, and explore Abu Simbel. For a more in-depth exploration including the desert or authentic local experiences, plan for 12 to 15 days. Our Travel Planners adjust the duration according to your availability and interests.
Absolutely! The Red Sea is a perfect complement to your cultural discovery of Egypt. Hurghada is just a 4-hour drive from Luxor, making it easy to add a few days of seaside relaxation to your itinerary. Our local experts can organize water activities, diving, or snorkeling to explore the exceptional coral reefs of this region.
Our Travel Planners, being local Egyptians themselves, have access to a network of privileged contacts allowing for authentic encounters. They organize unique experiences such as meals with locals in Nubian villages, workshops with local artisans, or sailing with traditional fishermen on the Nile. These moments of exchange greatly enrich your journey and offer you an authentic glimpse of contemporary Egypt.
