Pauline

Turkey offers an exceptional geographical and cultural diversity that deserves a personalized approach. Unlike traditional tours, a custom journey allows you to explore this country of 783,562 sq km according to your desires and at your own pace.
Your Turkey tour can take you from the shores of the Bosphorus to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast, through the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. This land of contrasts is home to 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and more than 200 major archaeological sites. Each region reveals its unique character: Istanbul and its 15 million inhabitants, a symbol of the meeting between East and West; Cappadocia and its rock formations sculpted by erosion over millennia; or the Aegean Sea with its crystal-clear waters and ancient relics.
Our local Travel Planners design your tour in Turkey based on your specific interests. Passionate about history? Your itinerary will focus on sites such as Ephesus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, or the Topkapi Palace which housed 25 Ottoman sultans for 400 years. Lover of gastronomy? We incorporate authentic culinary experiences in local markets and with residents. Family with children? Your program adapts with fun activities and suitable rhythms.
This personalized approach transforms your trip into a unique experience, far from the beaten paths of standardized tours. Our local experts let you discover secret places and offer you an authentic look at contemporary Turkish culture.
Your tour in Turkey reveals architectural, natural and cultural treasures of incredible richness. Each region deserves special attention to understand the deep soul of this transcontinental country.
Istanbul is often the starting point for tours in Turkey. This metropolis of 15.5 million inhabitants spans 5,343 sq km and straddles two continents. The Hagia Sophia, built in 537 AD, showcases the Byzantine legacy with its 31-meter diameter dome. The Topkapi Palace, residence of the Ottoman sultans from 1465 to 1856, reveals its treasures in its four successive courtyards.
A cruise on the Bosphorus included in your itinerary offers a unique perspective on this city with 2,500 years of history. The strait, 32 kilometers long, separates Europe from Asia and is a strategic passage between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. The Grand Bazaar, with its 4,000 shops spread over 31,000 sq m, remains one of the oldest covered markets in the world, founded in 1461.
The region of Cappadocia extends over 15,000 sq km in the heart of Anatolia. Its unique geological formations, sculpted by volcanic erosion 60 million years ago, create a moonscape dotted with fairy chimneys. The Göreme National Park is home to more than 400 rock-hewn churches carved between the 4th and 11th centuries by Christian communities.
Your tour may include the discovery of underground cities like Derinkuyu, which descends on 8 levels and could shelter 20,000 people. These refuges demonstrate the ingenuity of the local populations in facing invasions. The experience of a hot air balloon flight at sunrise reveals the majesty of these exceptional landscapes.
The Turkish Mediterranean coast stretches over 1,577 kilometers and offers a privileged climate with more than 300 days of sunshine per year. Antalya, nicknamed the "Turkish Riviera," welcomes more than 15 million visitors annually. Your tour may lead you to ancient sites like Perge, founded in the 12th century BC, or Aspendos with its Roman theater of 15,000 seats perfectly preserved.
The Aegean Sea reveals its turquoise waters along 2,805 kilometers of indented coasts. Ephesus, one of the most important cities of antiquity, had 250,000 inhabitants at its peak. Its Celsus Library, 17 meters high, and its theater with 25,000 seats illustrate the grandeur of this civilization.
The success of your trip depends on planning suited to the climatic and logistical specificities of the country. Our Travel Planners assist you in these crucial choices to optimize your experience.
The Turkish climate varies greatly by region. The following table summarizes the best times according to your destinations:
| Region | Best period | Average temperature | Particularities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Istanbul | April-October | 15-25°C | Avoid July-August (high influx) |
| Cappadocia | May-September | 20-30°C | Severe winter (-5°C) |
| Mediterranean coast | March-November | 18-28°C | Swimming possible for 8 months/year |
| Aegean Sea | April-October | 16-26°C | Meltemi winds in July-August |
The period from April to June and September to October offers the best conditions to explore the entire country. Temperatures remain pleasant, tourist influx decreases, and prices are more advantageous than in the peak summer season.
A tour in Turkey requires at least 8 days to grasp the major sites. Here are our recommendations according to your goals:
These rates include accommodation in 4-star hotels, meals, private transfers, entries to sites, and guidance by a French-speaking guide. Our Travel Planners adjust these services according to your preferences and budget, from homestay to historic palaces.
Beautiful Istanbul and its surroundings deserve at least 3 days for an initial approach. Allowing an extra day lets you visit Atatürk's mausoleum in Ankara, founder of the modern Turkish Republic, located 450 kilometers from the economic capital.
For a first discovery, we recommend a tour of 10 to 12 days. This duration allows you to visit Istanbul (3 days), Cappadocia (2-3 days), a coastal site such as Antalya or the Ephesus region (2-3 days), while maintaining a comfortable pace. Our Travel Planners adapt this itinerary according to your interests and physical condition.
French nationals can enter Turkey with an identity card or a passport valid for at least 6 months after the return date. For a tourist stay of less than 90 days, no visa is necessary. Our experts assist you with all the administrative formalities and keep you informed of any regulatory changes.
Vialala prefers private transfers with a driver to optimize your comfort and flexibility. The significant distances between sites (Istanbul-Cappadocia: 730 km) sometimes justify the use of domestic flights, which we integrate into your itinerary. For shorter distances, our air-conditioned vehicles allow you to enjoy the landscapes while benefiting from the commentary of your local French-speaking guide.
