The Trip Planning Magazine to Italy

Why choose a 15-day roadtrip in Italy?

A roadtrip in Italy over 2 weeks allows you to discover the extraordinary richness of this country with a thousand faces. This ideal duration offers you the possibility to explore several regions at your own pace, to savor the dolce vita, and to immerse yourself in the Italian way of life.

Italy stretches over more than 1,200 kilometers from North to South, offering a remarkable diversity of landscapes. Your 15 days will allow you to drive along the winding roads of the Dolomites, along the spectacular coasts of the lake region, through the golden hills of Tuscany, and down to the authentic villages of Puglia. This duration also allows you time for spontaneous breaks, to discover small villages off the beaten path, and to fully enjoy each destination.

Our Travel Planners specialized in trips to Italy design your itinerary according to your desires. Whether you are passionate about art and culture, food lovers, or in search of exceptional natural sceneries, we tailor your route to create a unique experience. This personalized approach ensures you discover Italy according to your own interests, far from conventional tourist circuits.

What itineraries for your 2 weeks in Italy?

Your 15-day roadtrip in Italy can follow different routes according to your preferences. Each region reveals its own treasures and deserves thorough exploration.

Northern Italy: between lakes and Dolomites

Northern Italy is an ideal starting point for your roadtrip. This region will seduce you with its grand alpine landscapes and clear-water lakes. Your trip can start from Milan, a modern gateway to the country, before hitting the road towards the lake region.

Lake Como, with its 146 kilometers perimeter, offers exceptional panoramas. You can explore picturesque villages like Bellagio or Varenna, real jewels clinging to the shores of the lake. Lake Maggiore also holds beautiful surprises with its Borromean Islands and their extraordinary gardens. Stresa is a charming stop to admire these wonders from the mainland.

The Dolomites are one of the highlights of this region. These mountains with vertical walls, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offer unforgettable scenic roads. The road connecting Bolzano to Cortina d'Ampezzo cuts through breathtaking landscapes, with exceptional viewpoints on iconic summits like the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

The center: Tuscany and Rome

Tuscany embodies the very essence of Italy with its rolling hills, century-old cypresses, and perched villages. Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, deserves at least three days of your itinerary. This open-air museum city houses must-see masterpieces in its historic palaces and churches.

The route through Chianti leads you through postcard landscapes. These 70 kilometers between Florence and Siena let you discover authentic villages like Greve in Chianti or Castellina in Chianti, where you can taste the famed Italian wines of the region. Pisa and its leaning tower are a must-see, while Lucca enchants you with its preserved ramparts.

Rome, the Eternal City, requires at least four days to explore its treasures. The Coliseum, Roman Forum, and Vatican museums are just part of its wealth. Our Travel Planners advise you on the best times to visit these iconic sites and introduce you to less known but equally fascinating neighborhoods.

Southern Italy: from Naples to Sicily

Southern Italy promises authentic experiences and spectacular landscapes. Naples, a bustling city, serves as your gateway to this region. The proximity of Vesuvius and the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum immerse you in the ancient history of the area.

The Amalfi Coast offers one of Europe's most spectacular roads. This 50-kilometer roadway winds between cliffs and sea, linking hanging villages like Positano and Amalfi. Each bend reveals stunning vistas of the Mediterranean and colorful houses perched on the rock.

Puglia captivates you with its preserved authenticity. Alberobello and its trulli, traditional houses with conical roofs, transport you to an unique universe. Polignano a Mare, perched on its white cliffs, offers unforgettable sunsets. The region also boasts beautiful beaches with turquoise waters, perfect for a relaxing break.

Sicily, if you choose to extend your trip, holds extraordinary discoveries. Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano with its 3,329 meters, mp[re && m3>...[remaining]

FAQ Italy

What budget should you plan for a 2-week roadtrip in Italy?

The budget for your 15-day roadtrip in Italy ranges from 2,000 to 4,000 euros per person depending on your choices of accommodation and activities. This amount includes car rental, gas, quality accommodations selected by our Travel Planners, meals, and main visits. Our experts establish a detailed and transparent estimate tailored to your expectations and budget.

How to distribute the stops over 15 days to optimize the journey?

We recommend planning 2 to 4 nights per stage to fully enjoy each region without spending your time on the road. A balanced itinerary might include 3 nights in the North (lakes or Dolomites), 4 nights in Tuscany, 3 nights in Rome, 3 nights on the Amalfi coast, and 2 nights in Puglia. Our Travel Planners tailor this distribution according to your interests and optimize the routes to minimize fatigue.

Should all accommodations be booked in advance for a 2-week trip?

We strongly recommend booking your accommodations in advance, especially for a 15-day stay involving several regions. This foresight ensures the availability of the best places and preferential rates. Our Travel Planners take care of all these reservations and negotiate the best conditions for you, ensuring a trip with complete peace of mind and no unpleasant surprises.
