The Trip Planning Magazine to Brazil

Why Opt for Custom Travel in Brazil?

Brazil is the largest country in South America, with an area of more than 8.5 million km². It is clear that no standard itinerary can claim to cover it all. From the Amazon forest in the north, the wild beaches of the Northeast, the vibrant cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, to the plains of the Pantanal in the mid-west, each region has its own character. This is precisely why a custom trip in Brazil makes perfect sense.

A country too vast for a fixed tour

Going to Brazil without having defined your priorities is risking missing out on the essentials. In two weeks, it is impossible to see everything. It is better to choose two or three regions and explore them in depth rather than exhausting oneself in a too ambitious circuit in Brazil. Are you attracted by the beautiful beaches of the Costa Verde and the colonial atmosphere of Paraty? Or perhaps by the Afro-Brazilian culture of Salvador de Bahia and the hikes in the Chapada Diamantina? These two trips have almost nothing in common, and that is precisely what makes Brazil so fascinating.

The Expertise of Vialala Travel Planners

At Vialala, our Travel Planners are experts who live or have lived in Brazil. They know the secret addresses, the ideal times for each region, and above all, they know how to listen. Your custom Brazil trip begins with a thorough exchange about your desires, your pace, your budget. It's only after this conversation that the itinerary takes shape, designed for you and only for you. A stay in Brazil designed this way has nothing to do with a pre-packaged program.

Which Destinations for Your Circuit in Brazil?

Brazil offers as many experiences as there are travelers. To help you see more clearly, here is an overview of the major regions and what they offer, according to your desires and your profile.

Essentials from North to South

Rio de Janeiro often remains the entry point of a trip to Brazil, and for good reason. The city gathers icons: Christ the Redeemer perched at 710 meters altitude, Sugarloaf Mountain that dominates the bay, the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. But Rio is also Santa Teresa and its cobbled streets, the bars of Lapa, and the unique energy of Rio's carnival, which turns the city into a giant party each year in February.

A few hours' drive away, the Costa Verde offers a more peaceful break. Ilha Grande, accessible only by boat, is a car-free island where nature takes back its rights over 193 km². It is one of our Travel Planners’ favorite stages for couples seeking calm.

Further north, Salvador de Bahia embodies the African soul of Brazil. The Pelourinho, its historical center classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, resonates with percussion and capoeira. It is a city that is as much experienced as it is visited, ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in local culture.

For nature lovers, two destinations are essential in a custom Brazil oriented adventure:

  • The Chapada Diamantina, in the state of Bahia, with its canyons, waterfalls, and caves to explore on foot;
  • The Lençóis Maranhenses, a national park of 155,000 hectares where white sand dunes alternate with turquoise freshwater lagoons;
  • The Amazon forest, accessible from Manaus, for a total immersion in the world's largest tropical ecosystem;
  • The Iguaçu Falls, on the border with Argentina, comprised of 275 waterfalls over nearly 3 km wide.

Experiences Tailored to Your Desires

A custom trip to Brazil is not just a checklist of sites to tick off. It's also a way of traveling that matches your style. Here are a few profiles and the experiences that correspond to them:

Traveler Profile Recommended Experiences Preferred Regions
Couple \/ Honeymoon Charming inns, secluded beaches, sunsets Costa Verde, Trancoso, Buzios
Family Natural activities, calm beaches, flexible pace Northeast, Ilha Grande, southern Brazil
Adventurer Hiking, safaris, river cruises Pantanal, Amazon, Chapada Diamantina
Cultural Baroque architecture, music, cuisine Salvador de Bahia, São Paulo, Ouro Preto

São Paulo deserves a special mention. Often overlooked in favor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's economic capital is a metropolis of 12 million people that is full of museums, street art, and one of the most dynamic culinary scenes in Latin America.

What is the Best Time to Go to Brazil?

Brazil is an accessible destination all year round, but the country is so vast that the ideal time varies depending on the region. A Vialala Travel Planner will guide you according to your itinerary, but here's a general overview to prepare your custom trip to Brazil.

Period General Climate Favorable Regions
April to June Mild and less humid Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Bahia
July to September Dry season Pantanal (ideal for wildlife watching), Northeast
October to December Start of the rains in the north Lençóis Maranhenses (full lagoons), Amazon
January to March Carnival, high heat Rio de Janeiro (Rio carnival in February)

Note: the Iguaçu Falls are impressive all year round, but the flow is particularly spectacular between November and March.

How Does Vialala Organize Your Custom Trip to Brazil?

Organizing a trip to Brazil can seem complex given the immensity of the country. That's where Vialala comes in. Our approach is based on direct collaboration between you and a dedicated Travel Planner, a specialist in Brazil. Together, you build a custom Brazil trip that meets your real expectations: duration, budget, type of accommodation, activities, travel pace.

Whether you dream of a romantic honeymoon between the inns of Trancoso and the beaches of Costa Verde, a family circuit with children, or a solo adventure between the Amazon forest and wild Northeast, your Travel Planner designs a coherent, logistically solid, and richly human itinerary.

The custom trip to Brazil with Vialala is also the guarantee of support throughout your stay. Your Travel Planner remains available before and during your trip to adjust, advise, or simply reassure. Because a good trip is also a serene trip.

FAQ Brazil

What are the must-see attractions when traveling to Brazil?

Brazil is a destination brimming with wonders to explore. Among the must-sees is Rio de Janeiro and its iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. Nestled atop Mount Corcovado, the statue offers panoramic views of the city and Guanabara Bay. Not far away, Copacabana Beach invites you to relax under the Brazilian sun. Then, make your way to Iguaçu to witness the breathtaking Iguaçu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Amazon rainforest, home to an extraordinary biodiversity. A trip to Brazil would be incomplete without these authentic visits that immerse you in Brazilian culture and nature.

What is the best time to travel to Brazil?

Due to its vast geographical expanse, Brazil experiences a variety of climates depending on the region. Generally, the period from December to March is ideal for enjoying the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and the northeast, with pleasant temperatures. However, this is also the peak tourist season, especially during February's Carnival. For exploring the Amazon, it is recommended to travel between June and November, when the dry season makes excursions easier. Avoid December to April in this region due to heavy rains. Finally, southern Brazil has a more temperate climate. Visit São Paulo between March and May or from September to November to avoid winter rains. In summary, Brazil is a year-round destination, with the best timing depending on the regions and activities you wish to explore.

What activities can you do when traveling to Brazil?

Brazil offers a plethora of activities catering to all tastes and adventures. For nature enthusiasts, a hike in Rio de Janeiro's Tijuca rainforest provides an exceptional green setting and an immersion in local biodiversity. Marine life lovers can dive into the crystal-clear waters of Fernando de Noronha, famous for its diverse marine fauna. For a cultural experience, the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio offers artistic and historical richness. Don't miss a Capoeira class, the iconic Brazilian dance that combines martial arts, music, and rhythm. Finally, for food lovers, tasting Brazilian cuisine with dishes like feijoada and pão de queijo promises a burst of flavors. Every corner of Brazil offers a unique experience, ensuring a memorable stay in this vibrant country.

What budget should you plan for a custom trip to Brazil?

Count on an average of between €2,500 and €4,500 per person for two weeks in Brazil, excluding international flights. This budget varies depending on the type of accommodation chosen, the regions visited, and the time of the trip. A circuit in Brazil including the Pantanal or the Amazon will generally be more expensive than a stay focused on the beaches of the Northeast.

Do you need a visa to travel to Brazil from France?

French nationals do not need a visa for a stay in Brazil lasting less than 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the planned return date. Your Vialala Travel Planner will remind you of these formalities when preparing your custom trip to Brazil.

How long should you plan for a trip to Brazil?

We recommend a minimum of 15 days for a custom trip to Brazil. This duration allows combining two or three regions without rushing. For a more complete circuit including Rio de Janeiro, the Northeast, and the Amazon, count on three weeks to fully enjoy each stage according to your desires.
