A trip in Oslo

Explore the Norwegian capital. Located in the south-east of Norway, Oslo is nestled at the bottom of the fjord of the same name. City of history and culture, it is also connected to the nature that surrounds it. Elected European Green Capital in 2019, it is at the forefront of the environment protection. It is also a sporting city, famous for its athletics meeting but above all for the winter sports that can be practiced just a few minutes from the city center. This idea of a stay is valid for 2 people for a period of 6 days.

Arrival at Oslo airport
The connection between the airport and the city center of Oslo is provided by train (flytoget). The connection can also be made by taking the train of a regular line, a little slower (30 minutes against twenty minutes). So count about ten euros less than with the flytoget.

Useful info (food)
For your meals, catering prices are quite expensive compared to other countries. For an average budget, treat yourself to one or two outings to a restaurant. You will find many mini markets where you can buy your provisions (the concept of supermarket hardly exists in Norway). Norwegians often eat toast (matpakke), so you will find a lot of sliced bread and all kinds of foods to spread on it. Among the curiosities to taste: brunost (brown cheese with a mild and sweet flavor), kaviar (fish roe paste in a tube), fiskekaker (kinds of savory pancakes with fish) and kanelboller (rolled cakes cinnamon, even better reheated and with Chantilly cream).

Useful info (public transportation)
Oslo is very well endowed with public transport. There are regular tram, bus and boat lines. Its metro, which serves a large part of the city, is very easy and pleasant to use. Tickets can be purchased at several points of sale (ticket offices, Narvesen kiosks, tourist office, etc.) but are free with the Oslo Pass. Oslo is not a very big city despite the large size of its municipality, it is relatively easy to get around and visit it on foot or by bike.

Booking a hotel in Oslo (night 1 of 6)
Hotel of your choice according to your wishes. In Oslo, the accommodation options are varied but limited: youth hostel, budget hotel, luxury hotel ... For 5 nights, plan between 100 and 700 €. Youth hostels are ideal for keeping costs as low as possible and if you are willing to share a bedroom and bathroom. Comfort is however there if one is not too demanding. For more prestigious accommodation, prices go up quite quickly but the quality of service will not disappoint.
