Getaway in the Gudbrandsdal Valley

The Gudbrandsdal Valley stretches in the south of Norway, from Lillehammer to the southwest coast of the country, describing a narrow and deep arc of a circle. It is bordered by the highest peaks of Norway, which culminate at more than 2000 m of altitude. It is also a land of traditions and legends, whose rich history has forged the Norwegian identity. Nature is omnipresent and offers many hiking possibilities. For this tour, do not forget your hiking boots and your backpack. This idea of a stay is valid for 2 people for a period of 6 days.

Getaway in the Gudbrandsdal Valley
This tour is inspired by my own experience in the Gudbrandsdal Valley. It can be modified according to your wishes. It presents the region's essentials and everything that makes it so charming. For more information on the Gudbrandsdal Valley and Norway, visit my website: www.untourabergen.com For this formula, you can go camping and thus avoid having to book a hotel. Wild camping is legal everywhere in Norway, this is called the allemannsretten. Unless otherwise indicated, it is possible to pitch your tent wherever you want, as long as you respect the environment and private properties. For more information, download the UT.no app. It brings together all the hiking routes in Norway.

Useful info (food)
For your meals, catering prices are quite expensive compared to other countries. For an average budget, treat yourself to one or two outings to a restaurant. You will find many mini markets where you can buy your provisions (the concept of supermarket hardly exists in Norway). Norwegians often eat toast (matpakke), so you will find a lot of sliced bread and all kinds of foods to spread on it. Among the curiosities to taste: brunost (brown cheese with a mild and sweet flavor), kaviar (fish roe paste in a tube), fiskekaker (kinds of savory pancakes with fish) and kanelboller (rolled cakes cinnamon, even better reheated and with Chantilly cream).

Bking of an hotel in Lillehammer (night 1 of 2)
Hotel of your choice according to your wishes. In Lillehammer, the accommodation options are varied but limited: youth hostel, budget hotel, luxury hotel ... For 2 nights, plan between 50 and 300 €. Youth hostels are ideal for keeping costs as low as possible and if you are willing to share a bedroom and bathroom. Comfort is however there if one is not too demanding. For more prestigious accommodation, prices go up quite quickly but the quality of service will not disappoint.
