Arctic adventures in Tromsø

Discover Tromsø, the capital of the arctic. Located north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is a vibrant small town surrounded by breathtaking nature. Between steep mountains rising out of the ocean and wild and bewitching islands, the Tromsø region offers a wide range of outdoor and cultural activities. It houses the northernmost university in the world as well as several museums. In summer, the sun never sets and appears above the horizon all day. On the contrary, in winter, the polar night descends and lights up with the northern lights. For this tour, do not forget your hiking boots and your backpack. This idea of a stay is valid for 2 people for a period of 6 days.

Useful info (food)
For your meals, catering prices are quite expensive compared to other countries. For an average budget, treat yourself to one or two outings to a restaurant. You will find many mini markets where you can buy your provisions (the concept of supermarket hardly exists in Norway). Norwegians often eat toast (matpakke), so you will find a lot of sliced bread and all kinds of foods to spread on it. Among the curiosities to taste: brunost (brown cheese with a mild and sweet flavor), kaviar (fish roe paste in a tube), fiskekaker (kinds of savory pancakes with fish) and kanelboller (rolled cakes cinnamon, even better reheated and with Chantilly cream).

The Arctic Cathedral
The Arctic Cathedral, which was built in 1965, stands out for its modern and recognizable architecture. During the summer, from June 1 to August 15, to celebrate the midnight sun, concerts of classical music and lyrical singing are played every evening (11:00 p.m.).

Booking a hotel in Tromsø (night 1 of 6)
Hotel of your choice according to your wishes. In Tromsø, the accommodation options are varied but limited: youth hostel, budget hotel, luxury hotel ... For 5 nights, plan between 100 and 700 €. Youth hostels are ideal for keeping costs as low as possible and if you are willing to share a bedroom and bathroom. Comfort is however there if one is not too demanding. For more prestigious accommodation, prices go up quite quickly but the quality of service will not disappoint.
